We all know this footage of pit stops from 1950 but what if we compare the pit stops of the last 20 years. You might remember the fastest pit stop by Williams in Baku 2016 in just 1,92 seconds. Take another look at the fastest pit stop we have ever seen in a Formula 1 race before scrolling down to see the slowest pit stop in the last 20 years.
When we take a look at the slowest pit stop in the last 20 years we go back to the Grand Prix of Argentina in 1998. Esteban Tuero had his pit stop with Minardi but everything what could go wrong went wrong.
When Esteban Tuero entered the pit lane the tyres were not ready and the fuel hose didn’t work at first. At the moment the tryes arrived they were put on at the wrong place. When it looked to be all fine they found out they were still missing one tyre.
The pit stop took a massive 41,8 seconds. This is more than 3 times as long as Daniel Ricciardo’s pit stop in Monaco in 2016, which is one of the biggest pit stop fails of the last years.
