What could well become the final of Lakeside 2025—Jimmy van Schie versus Mitchell Lawrie—has already captured the imagination of darts enthusiasts. Behind the scenes, the pair surprised friends and rivals alike with an entertaining and highly skilled practice match, as seen in a recently surfaced set of both humorous and impressive clips.

Their potential showdown is widely regarded as a dream final. Both players have already made a major impact on the Lakeside stage this year, posting standout performances and notable averages of 95.84 and 97.21, the highest of the tournament so far.

Van Schie the Last Dutchman Standing

On Friday evening, Van Schie will face Shane McGuirk in the quarter-finals, aiming to secure his place in Saturday’s semi-finals. The Dutchman is the only remaining representative from the Netherlands in the men’s competition.

Mitchell Lawrie will also be in action on Friday night, taking on Belgian player Francois Schweyen in the third match of the evening. Van Schie is scheduled to close out the night session. Regardless of the result, Lawrie is already guaranteed a place on the Lakeside stage on Saturday—not only as a contender in the men’s tournament but also as a semifinalist in the junior competition. Should he defeat Schweyen, he could find himself competing in two semi-finals on the same day.

Strong Dutch Presence in the Women’s Tournament

The women’s competition still features two Dutch contenders. Lerena Rietbergen will meet Eve Watson with a place in the final four at stake. Watson enters the match in top form, having eliminated Aileen de Graaf the day before with an impressive 78.59 average, following a 78.20 performance against Joanne Hadley. These stand as the two highest averages in the women’s event so far this year.

Meanwhile, Priscilla Steenbergen is set to face Lorraine Hyde, keeping alive the possibility of both Dutchwomen reaching the semi-finals. A fully Dutch final also remains on the table, as Rietbergen and Steenbergen cannot meet before the championship match.
