Michael van Gerwen was furious after his game against Gary Anderson at the European Championship. Not with his opponent but with the organisation.

Michael van Gerwen: “There was wind on the stage. They just don’t learn. They keep making the same mistakes. Of course, you can kick yourself if you don’t play well enough. I probably didn’t do that today. But it gets into your head. I’m annoyed about that. Too little energy? I don’t even think so. Look how my arrows are in the first four or five legs. They say the doors were closed. They can kiss my ass. That’s not true.”
The Dutchman, like the other top players, is preparing for the World Championship, and the current tournaments are an important benchmark to see how they are performing. If the organization drops the ball and creates a situation where the players can’t perform at their best, they will certainly hear about it.
That’s exactly what Michael van Gerwen did here, and as we know him, he didn’t mince words, and PDC Europe’s organization got the message loud and clear. Despite everything, we’re missing him from the lineup on Sunday, but there are still three other Dutch players in the running.
Jermaine Wattimena had this moment with James Wade after their game
Dirk van Duijvenbode, Jermaine Wattimena, and Danny Noppert are the names competing on Sunday for a spot in the evening session where the semifinals and final are scheduled. To achieve this, Van Duijvenbode must face Luke Woodhouse, while Wattimena will go head-to-head with Luke Humphries. Noppert will meet Pikachu, a.k.a. Ricardo Pietreczko.
Gary Anderson, who eliminated Van Gerwen, isn’t up against a Dutch player in the quarterfinals. The only quarterfinal without a Dutch contender will be between Gary Anderson and Ritchie Edhouse.
From November 9 to 17, the Grand Slam of Darts will be held in Wolverhampton, and from November 22 to 24, the Players Championship Finals will take place. After that, all eyes will be on the PDC World Championship 2025, scheduled from December 15 to January 3.
