You might think that a referee has more rights than the players, but it turns out that this isn’t always the case. This may be the first time you’re hearing about the above rule, but it’s possible you’ve already encountered it in practice during a league night.

If you’re the scorekeeper at the dartboard while a teammate is throwing, it’s important to know what you are and aren’t allowed to do in that situation. It’s also good to realize that when you’re the one playing and the above happens to you, your opponent is allowed to do this—but the responsibility still lies with you as the player. Use that to your advantage.

Your opponent may have good intentions, but they can still be wrong—either unintentionally or deliberately. So always double-check yourself before you step up to throw again.

In addition to this rule, which you probably weren’t aware of until today, there are other rules you might not know exist, or rules that are often applied incorrectly. If you’re interested in learning more about these rules so you can apply them correctly during your league matches, keep following Dartfreakz.nl—we plan to highlight more of them in the near future.
