“Aubergenius,” as his nickname goes, has emerged in recent years as a striking figure in the world of darts. His breakthrough came in 2020 with a runner-up finish at the World Grand Prix. Since then, he has enjoyed multiple successes, including six victories in Players Championship tournaments and three televised finals.
In 2022, he reached the semi-finals of both the European Championship and the World Cup, and in 2024, he made it to the semi-finals of the Players Championship Finals.
At the end of 2023, Van Duijvenbode was faced with a serious shoulder injury, which led to prolonged physical issues. This injury significantly affected his performance and even made him question his future in the sport.

With the help of specialist Pol Huijsmans, he worked hard on his recovery. His dedication resulted in a remarkable comeback in 2024, with strong performances in the Players Championship series and a semi-final finish in the Players Championship Finals.
He remains determined to climb back up the rankings and is currently positioned 31st on the PDC Order of Merit. For comparison, Danny Noppert currently holds 16th place, while the two were once neck-and-neck in the rankings.
Back then, they competed for a spot alongside Michael van Gerwen in the World Cup of Darts. In fact, they even represented the Netherlands together at the tournament one year when Van Gerwen had to withdraw due to not having recovered in time from a dental procedure.
