Right after the PDC World Darts Championship the Promi WM Darts is played and this was no different this year. Watch Michael van Gerwen and Peter Wright compete with each other after having some words about each other in Ally Pally.
After the World Championship at the PDC, Michael van Gerwen has a vacation planned. But not before he first traveled to Germany to participate in the celebrity tournament.
In addition to the 2025 World Championship runner-up, Stephen Bunting, Luke Humphries, Ricardo Pietreczko, Martin Schindler, and Peter Wright were also present. It was the latter who had to play the first match against the Dutchman alongside his doubles partner.
The atmosphere was noticeably different when no money or world title was at stake, as evidenced by the footage showing Wright and Van Gerwen sharing laughs. Van Gerwen, known for his tendency to tease his opponents, was no different this time around.
However, neither of them managed to reach the final, which was contested between Stephen Bunting with former footballer Patrick Owomoyela as his partner, and Luke Humphries with artist Vanessa Mai by his side.
They delivered a true spectacle, with the score tied at 2-2. A decisive last leg was needed to determine the winner, and in the end, The Bullet and his partner proved strongest. With a single dart at double 12, Bunting sealed the match and claimed the tournament victory.
For the professional players, it’s now an opportunity for some vacation and rest. On January 16 and 17, some of them will be competing in the Bahrain Darts Masters, followed by the Dutch Darts Masters on the weekend of January 24 and 25.
Meanwhile, those striving to climb to the top must give their all. From January 6 to 12, the PDC Q School is taking place. The UK edition is being held in Milton Keynes, while the European variant is in Kalkar, Germany.
Another remarkble moment by a PDC World Champioship played off stage is this one by Luke Littler. The 17 year old World Champion is near perfect on the dartboard setting a new standard for the current professional darts players. But he isn’t only great on the stage of darts as he is also talented in football which he shows with this amazing challenge.
