Today, Dirk van Duijvenbode secured the fourth Dutch victory at the World Matchplay with a 10-8 win over Rob Cross.

After the match, he was asked a rather special question referring to his pregnant wife back home, and with his witty response, he had the crowd in stitches—as can be seen in these clips.

Of course, he was asked what he would do if he progressed further in the tournament and the baby was born during that time. “Aubergenius” is known for not mincing his words, and the English audience certainly appreciated his humorous and quick-witted reply.

Incidentally, Van Duijvenbode’s win marked the fourth Dutch victory of the year, but it didn’t take long before number five was added. In the very next match, Jermaine Wattimena also managed to grab a win, defeating Peter Wright by the same scoreline.

But the Dutch weren’t the only ones enjoying success—Mike de Decker also triumphed on Sunday afternoon. He played the final match of the afternoon session against Dave Chisnall and won 10-7. Thus, players from the Low Countries have had an incredibly successful start to the tournament with a 100% win rate in the first two days.

Danny Noppert in disbelief after this moment by his opponent
The Dutchman couldn’t believe what his opponent did when Cameron Menzies had this moment.

This record will remain intact for now, as Sunday evening features several intriguing matchups—but without any Dutch or Belgian players. Luke Littler will be in action and is set to face Ryan Searle.

We’ll also see Gary Anderson take on Luke Woodhouse and Jonny Clayton face Martin Schindler. The final match of Sunday evening will be between Stephen Bunting and Ryan Joyce.

Monday night, however, promises to be a must-watch for all Dutch fans, as Michael van Gerwen and Raymond van Barneveld will face off in an all-Dutch showdown.
