The pair faced each other in the final of Players Championship 9, treating fans to a contest of the highest quality. Dobey averaged 105.28, while Hood posted an outstanding 102.91, with the 35-year-old ultimately edging the match.
Despite the defeat, it was Justin Hood who still managed to provide one of the standout moments of the event. The footage highlights how he claimed the legs he won—and he did so in spectacular fashion time and again.
His finishing ability on the doubles had already caught attention several months earlier at the World Championship in Alexandra Palace. There, he came close to recording a perfect victory without missing a single double—an extraordinary feat that had never previously been achieved at that stage of the tournament.
