One day after the conclusion of the 2026 PDC World Darts Championship, another event featuring some of the sport’s biggest names took place, much to the delight of the fans.
During the tournament, Luke Humphries brought the crowd to its feet with a spectacular trick shot ahead of his match against Michael van Gerwen, a moment that quickly did the rounds on social media.
Van Gerwen himself will not have been too concerned by the showmanship, as he once again ended the evening lifting the trophy. The Dutchman claimed his fourth title at this event, achieving the feat with four different partners over the years.
His first triumph came in 2017, when Peter Wright was defeated in the final. In 2022, Van Gerwen got the better of Gerwyn Price, before the two faced each other again in the 2023 final—once more with the Dutch star emerging victorious. The 2026 final saw Van Gerwen and his partner take on Nathan Aspinall and his teammate, with history repeating itself as Van Gerwen claimed the title yet again.
There was also a special edition in 2019, when Van Gerwen formed a duo with Rafael van der Vaart. That pairing reached the final as well, but on that occasion narrowly fell short against Max Hopp and his partner.
Another Dutch player in action last weekend was none other than current PDC World Championship runner-up Gian van Veen. Clearly enjoying the occasion, Van Veen competed alongside his female partner but was unable to progress to the final of the evening.
The Promi WM Darts is a demonstration tournament held immediately after the PDC World Championship, pairing PDC professionals with German celebrities. While the professionals must finish on a double, the amateur partners—some of whom have barely thrown a dart before—are allowed to check out on a single.
The format reliably produces plenty of light-hearted and entertaining moments, and the 2026 edition was no exception.
