During the Premier League quarter final of Michael van Gerwen against Luke Humphries last night there was this moment for which Humphries received a lot of critism. It is because of the route he takes from 80 with Michael van Gerwen waiting from 25 for the match.

Even the English commentators condemned it, and with that, the current world number one has badly shot himself in the foot. Nevertheless, he still finds himself in second place in the Premier League rankings, trailing Luke Littler by six points.
As mentioned, Michael van Gerwen managed to win the quarterfinal against Luke Humphries and also defeated Chris Dobey in the semifinal. This secured him a spot in his first Premier League final of the year, where, just like in the PDC World Championship, Luke Littler was his opponent.
New 180 Sound By PDC Referee ‘Opera Singer’ Franz Engerer
At the European Darts Trophy we saw a new referee on stage this weekend and his 180-sounds has everbody talking about it. You can listen to his 180-sound here.
There was no stopping the 18-year-old once again. With an average of 112.50 and a nine-darter, there was little that could be done against him. However, Van Gerwen still managed to take four legs and achieved an average of 101.41 himself.
As much as the “Green Sledgehammer” wanted to claim the day’s victory, it wasn’t meant to be. However, he is on his way back to his old level. Reaching the final also helped him climb a position in the Premier League rankings. From fourth place—where qualification for the playoffs is uncertain—he moved up to a more comfortable third place after Thursday night.
He won’t have much time to recover, as the European Darts Trophy kicks off on Friday afternoon. Van Gerwen can make the trip to Göttingen, Germany, on Friday, as he is only set to play his first match on Saturday.
