Luke Littler could already be facing financial consequences before he even steps onto the stage for the final against Gian van Veen at the 2026 PDC World Darts Championship. An incident earlier in the tournament may yet prove costly for the teenage sensation.
Luke Littler: “Absolutely [inaudible], fucking shit”
Gian van Veen booked his place in the final in spectacular fashion, producing an impressive performance to defeat Gary Anderson and secure a spot in the biggest match of his career at the 2026 PDC World Championship.
Someone Spotted This Clever Trick Used By Gian van Veen

In the final, the Dutchman will face Luke Littler, who may be forced to forfeit part of his prize money following an incident during his match against Ryan Searle. Littler’s conduct after losing the opening set was clearly visible and unmistakably expressive, leaving little doubt about his frustration. The reaction appeared to be noticed by his opponent as well, and it could still result in a fine for the 18-year-old Englishman.
While Van Veen is widely regarded as the model professional — often described as the “ideal son-in-law” who never utters a bad word about anyone — Littler cuts a very different figure. His immense talent is beyond question, but he has regularly managed to provoke both fellow players and supporters. Earlier in the tournament, he was already involved in a heated exchange with the crowd, and the moment against Searle only added to the scrutiny surrounding his on-stage behavior.
Van Veen, who is just five years older than Littler, will contest the youngest World Championship final in PDC history. The two are no strangers to each other on the big stage. Back in 2023, they met in the final of the PDC World Youth Championship, where Littler edged the contest 6–4 in legs. This time, however, the stakes and the format are significantly higher, with the 2026 world title going to the first player to win seven sets.
Unlike many players who have struggled against Littler, Van Veen has proven more than capable of matching him. Their head-to-head record stands at an even 3–3. Although Littler claimed victory in the 2023 Youth World Championship final, Van Veen went on to beat him three times in 2025, while the reigning world champion picked up two wins in that same year.
Looking at their most recent encounters, Van Veen has had the upper hand, winning three of the last four matches. These victories came at Players Championship 5 (7–6) and twice on the European Tour (7–4 and 6–4). Littler, however, did manage to claim a convincing 2–0 win at the World Grand Prix.
With history, temperament, and potential disciplinary action all adding extra layers of intrigue, the 2026 PDC World Championship final promises to be a compelling clash between two of darts’ brightest young stars.
