During the first day of the Czech Darts Open there was this game between Luke Woodhouse and Marko Kantele in the evening. They played the first game of that session and during the third leg Woodhouse was about to hit a maximum 180 but then this happened.
For the viewer watching the tournament from their couch, it’s hopeful to see that what happens to them at the local pub can also happen to the current world number 35. On social media, people express their surprise that this doesn’t happen more often on the big stage, where we can witness it on the big screen.
It didn’t stop Luke Woodhouse from easily defeating his Finnish opponent with a commanding score. He won 6-0, securing his spot for Saturday. There was one other player who managed to deliver a whitewash, and that was Raymond van Barneveld. The Dutchman sent Daryl Gurney home, after earlier joining him on stage to sing their well-known walk-on song, “Sweet Caroline.”
