Michael van Gerwen and Sky Sports is no good combination at the PDC World Darts Championship 2025. After the semi final he had this moment and now after the final he did it again by saying this…
“I’m an old bastard compared to him!”🤣🤣🤣 pic.twitter.com/yWndDKp8wG

Interviewer: “You are now a step close. Last got your hands on the thropy in 2019 but if you were to go all the way tomorrow night, where would it rank in your list of World Championship wins?”
Michael van Gerwen: “That is something to worry about tomorrow. I don’t care. I’m only in the final. I’ve won f*cking all yet so I need to make sure I am going to do it tomorrow.”
As mentioned, this was not the first incident during this World Championship. After the semifinal victory against Chris Dobey, the English audience was already upset with Michael van Gerwen. On that occasion, things also went awry during Sky Sports’ broadcast, with Van Gerwen using the F-word on air.
In England, this kind of language is prohibited on television, prompting the presenter to immediately apologize to viewers. Van Gerwen, however, appeared unfazed and repeated a similar incident just a day later.
These actions could potentially lead to two fines for the PDC World Championship 2025 runner-up, but it seems unlikely to bother him much. Despite missing out on the world title and the grand prize, the second-place finish still earned him £200,000.
After spending weeks in England with his full attention on the World Championship, Van Gerwen now plans to take a well-deserved vacation. He had previously shared that a family trip was scheduled right after the tournament, giving him time to prioritize his loved ones.
On January 24 and 25, Van Gerwen will return to the stage, this time in the Netherlands. Competing at the Dutch Darts Masters, he will aim for the title, with reigning world champion Luke Littler also participating.
Jacques Nieuwlaar will also make an appearance, but in a different role than his usual commentary duties. While fans have seen him as a presenter on Viaplay, this time he will step into a role he hasn’t taken on in quite some time: as a substitute for John McDonald.
After the final there was a funny moment backstage between Luke Littler and Michael van Gerwen as the new World Championship opened up about this banter moment.
