It was one of those incidents that can only happen on the floor — as the footage clearly shows. It’s an awkward watch, as everyone except Peter Wright eventually realizes what’s going on. The situation drags on for quite a while, with no one stepping in to warn Snakebite, and even the commentator can hardly bear to watch.

Moments like this are unique to floor events, where players are not reminded of their remaining score. They have to keep track of it themselves using the tablet on the board. In televised tournaments, on the other hand, players are informed as soon as they reach a potential checkout, with their remaining score clearly displayed before every visit.
That luxury will return soon enough, with the Grand Slam of Darts set to take place from 8 to 16 November, followed by the Players Championship Finals from 21 to 23 November.
After that, the countdown begins to the biggest tournament of the year — the 2026 PDC World Championship. The event will kick off on 11 December, with the final scheduled for 3 January, starting four days earlier than usual. The reason? The field has been expanded from 96 to 128 players.
Just a month and a half to go before we enter the festive season and the most important event of the darts calendar. The revamped format also means saying goodbye to the double-session days — when preliminary matches and first-round ties used to take place on the same evening.
