The two recently met at the Swiss Darts Trophy, and once again there was a notable moment involving Pikachu. He seems unable to keep his composure when facing the five-time world champion. Just over a week ago, they faced each other in the second round in Basel, and this time they met directly in the first round.
Twice, Pietrezko made mistakes, and while it happened in the opening leg in Switzerland, this time it occurred in the second set. The video above shows what the German got himself into again after his recent moment against Barney in Switzerland.
However, this time he can look back on the match with a better feeling, because while Barney narrowly won 6-5 in Switzerland, this time it was Pietrezko who came out on top. After the first two sets were evenly split 3-2, the score in the third set was much more decisive. Without winning a leg, the Dutchman lost the set 3-0, giving his opponent the victory.
In the next round, Luke Humphries awaits the German, and the winner will face Jonny Clayton or Ross Smith in the quarterfinals. Another Dutch player who competed on the opening night also suffered defeat. Gian van Veen couldn’t deliver against Ross Smith. The Englishman was in tremendous form, and despite having to start each leg with a double, his average remained unaffected, scoring an impressive 101.79.
On Tuesday evening, the last two remaining Dutch players in the tournament are scheduled to play. Michael van Gerwen will face Daryl Gurney, and Danny Noppert will take on Gerwyn Price.
