The writer and opponent of this player was quite surprised when the darts player began his match with a very peculiar gadget.
It’s no surprise that this led to a discussion, as seen in these images.
WORSLEY IS WEARING A *FAN* ON STAGE! 🤯
I'm not sure if we have ever seen this situation in Darts before… 😅

The incident occurred during the MODUS Super Series when Scott Baker and Jon Worsley faced off against each other. After the first leg was won by the man from Wales, the Englishman decided to inquire about what exactly was going on before his eyes.
The referee then got involved in a discussion with the pair, and he also seemed unsure about how to handle the situation. Many things are outlined in the rulebook, but this was a scenario that hadn’t been considered before.
Baker seemed mainly to complain about the sound the gadget made—and that’s understandable, as he could probably hear it himself while throwing.

The last time we saw something similar on stage that required deliberation over whether it was allowed was Gerwyn Price’s hearing protection at the 2023 PDC World Championship. The rules couldn’t stop him from stepping onto the World Championship stage with it.
The rules were later adjusted so that this would no longer be allowed in the future. The PDC wasn’t particularly pleased with it, even though it generated a lot of publicity and became the talk of the day.
Whereas The Iceman was trying to block out crowd noise—without disturbing his opponent—this time the gadget was clearly disruptive to the opposing player. The matter will likely have further consequences, and the rulebook may once again be revised.
