The 2026 World Matchplay has come to an end, and the Women’s World Matchplay delivered a thrilling finale as Beau Greaves edged out Fallon Sherrock in a dramatic title decider.
However, before Greaves lifted the trophy, an unusual incident involving an aggressive spectator overshadowed part of the tournament.
During one of Greaves’ walk-ons, a female fan appeared to confront the English star, with the exchange captured on video. While the supporter cannot be heard in the footage, a professional lip reader has since analysed the clip and revealed what was allegedly said. The reported comments were highly abusive, painting the fan in an extremely negative light.
Hahaha. What the fuck was all that about!?
You got your autograph didnt you!?

What Triggered the Outburst?
Further details have since emerged regarding the confrontation.
Earlier in the day, the woman had been walking around the venue with a shirt that she was asking players to sign. Although Beau Greaves was willing to autograph the fan’s signboard, she reportedly declined to sign the shirt itself.
Tried lip reading the frames – tricky without audio in a hectic 7s clip, but she's clearly fuming at the player in black. Mouth wide, intense stare, pointing/reaching: looks like "What the f***?!" or "You signed for them, not me?!" Pure autograph snub rage. The "off you pop" vibe…

According to those familiar with the situation, the woman is allegedly known for collecting players’ signatures with the intention of reselling the signed items for profit. Greaves’ refusal to sign the shirt is believed to have sparked the angry outburst that followed during her walk-on.
She was getting players to sign a t-shirt, guess Beau didn’t, but Beau did sign loads of things so harsh to mouth off at her! They can’t sign everything! pic.twitter.com/oOniS3o3r6

Greaves Keeps Her Focus
Despite the distraction, Greaves remained composed and produced another outstanding performance on the oche.
She began her campaign with a convincing 5-1 victory over Kirsi Viinikainen in the quarter-finals before facing a much sterner challenge against Gemma Hayter. The semi-final went all the way to a deciding leg, with Greaves holding her nerve to secure a 5-4 victory.
The final against Fallon Sherrock proved equally dramatic. Locked at 5-5, the Women’s World Matchplay title came down to one last leg. Greaves produced when it mattered most, winning the decider to claim the championship and the £15,000 winner’s prize.
Sherrock collected £8,000 as runner-up, while the losing semi-finalists each received £4,500. Players reaching the quarter-finals earned £2,000.
