Earlier we showed you Danny Lauby smashing the world record in the Bulls-Eye Challenge. This time it was up to Ron Meulenkamp who is a slow player but the Dutchman still did the incredible thing by setting a new world record on highest number of bull’s per dart.
Earlier, we showed the lightning-fast Danny Lauby breaking James Wade’s record. The American managed to throw a whopping 24 darts at the board and scored the same number of points on the bull’s-eye in just 60 seconds.
For Ron Meulenkamp, this was an impossible task due to his slow playing style, as he managed to throw almost 40% fewer darts at the board in the same amount of time. The Bomb’s strategy was not focused on speed but on accuracy, and it paid off.
Although he didn’t break the total number of bull’s-eyes, he did break the average number of bulls per dart. Among the top 20, he threw the fewest number of darts, yet he secured a third-place position in the rankings.
The increasing use of the bull’s-eye in steel-tip darts is evident from the footage above, featuring Luke Littler in action at the MODUS Super Series. Notably, he transitions from unusual finishes to opening with the bull’s-eye and preferably finishing in the same turn.
While this technique was previously popular in the soft-tip world, the youth in steel-tip darts has discovered its appeal. Beau Greaves, the bull’s-eye champion, exemplifies this trend, consistently throwing more consecutive bull’s-eyes than any man has ever done.
In the MODUS Super Series, they even introduced a challenge for this skill, and Ron Meulenkamp demonstrated his prowess in this aspect.
