Last weekend the Promi WM Darts 2024 was played in Germany and Luke Humphries and Michael van Gerwen were among the players. The Dutchman caught the current PDC World Champion lying when this happened behind the scenes.

Chris Tall: “First attempt and right away a 180”
Luke Humphries: “Yes, first attempt”
Michael van Gerwen: “Oh dear, oh dear. They are lying!”

Humphries thought he could provide Chriss Tall with some entertaining content for his social media channel, but it took an unexpected turn due to the observant Dutchman. The comedian teamed up with Peter Wright, reaching the semi-finals where they were bested by the eventual winners, Ricardo Pietreczko and Eko Fresh.

For Luke Humphries and his partner Jürgen Milski, the tournament ended a round earlier. They lost 0-2 in the quarterfinals to Gerwyn Price and Verona Pooth.

Behind the scenes, Michael van Gerwen was sharp, exposing a deceitful Luke Humphries and Chriss Tall. However, in front of the cameras, the three-time world champion also faced an early exit. During the group stage, he was challenged by the blonde presenter Andrea Kaiser but managed to overcome it, advancing with teammate ‘Knossi’ without losing a leg. Yet, in the first match of the knockout phase, things went awry. Gerwyn Price and Verona Pooth proved too strong, winning 2-1 against the Dutch/German duo.

Nevertheless, Van Gerwen can look back on several successful days after the PDC World Championship 2024. While he suffered a quarterfinal defeat due to illness at Ally Pally, he seems to have returned to form, as evidenced by a 9-darter thrown during a demonstration on Friday night.

Later this month, the Dutchman will be on display at the Dutch Darts Masters alongside seven compatriots. It is almost a home game for Van Gerwen, who will showcase his skills in ‘s-Hertogenbosch.
