On Monday night, Ryan Searle made history by concluding his match with a 9-darter at the Grand Slam of Darts. It wasn’t just any perfect leg; it turned out to be the heaviest 9-darter ever.
We’ve witnessed some remarkable 9-darters before, but a flawless leg with 34-gram darts is something entirely new. He had achieved this on the floor previously, but now, for the first time, he succeeded in doing it on television. Thus, this stands as the heaviest among all 9-darters we’ve ever witnessed live on TV.
Moreover, it’s only the second time in PDC history that a match has ended with a 9-darter. The first was Willie Borland at the 2022 World Championship. Additionally, Ryan Searle secured his spot in the last 16 of the 2023 Grand Slam of Darts in this manner.
Also, recently, we witnessed another incredibly perfect leg – the fastest ever – courtesy of Ricky Evans during the Players Championship 30 earlier this month. Within just 11 days, two remarkable 9-darters have been thrown, something unprecedented in the history of darts.
